Don't most people think that when their profession (or something the love) is portrayed on TV? It is rarely realistic.

I don't think that's weird. I kind of love medical dramas too, but I would cringe for an hour if I had to watch a fictionalized show based around engineers (and probably all the sex people think we have on drafting tables. I dunno.)

I feel ya, OP. I wanted to be an astrophysicist but I fucked up the course. Scifi was always a favourite genre, but now it holds a bittersweet quality that makes it even more potent for me.

Shows about offices can fuck off though.

Both my parents are health care providers, and House once made my mother shriek in horror at the idiocy. Literally, she shrieked out loud. And then proceeded to rant about what they got wrong and why. Knowledge does that to you, it's hard to ignore the mistakes.

Dude, it's pretty much what the first commenter said, people like to watch what they don't do professionally, because they will see all the flaws.

I cannot watch horse flicks or medical dramas, because I will drive myself to madness by noticing everything that isn't correct. And I'm just a friggin' vet tech.
