I was walking to school today, listening to of Montreal's Rose Robert, and it struck me that that would be the kind of romantic relationship I would want for myself. The relationship seems genuine but not overtly passionate, also low-maintenance and focused on fun. (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbmod6rtLr4)

This is a little sidestep to the left, but I love the song 'Creep' by Radiohead. I love the way that everyone used to sing along to it when it was played at my old haunt - whether they were model beautiful or more homely, everyone would be singing along. It's one of those songs where you realise that most people have also had that teenage-style crush on someone, where you feel completely worthless in comparison to their beauty. Looking around at everyone singing it, seeing all the people you think are beautiful singing it, really brings home that we are all hiding how insecure we feel. Especially as teenagers...

Nah, anon, that made perfect sense. I know Radiohead has grown tired of Creep, but it was a darn important song to me (and a lot of other people I guess), I got out a lot of frustrations through that as a teen. I never saw that sort of collective thing: seeing other people feeling the same way through a song, but I can see how eye-opening it would be. So that's pretty neat.

It was important to me too, anon. Seeing everyone singing it is such a weirdly poignant memory for me. It really got me in the gut, everyone belting it out like they were pouring their hearts out.

I don't think the first song is too much to ask for, sounds perfectly reasonable and happy to me. But of course, you never know what happens in relationships, and it's a bit sad.

If I had to choose one, You're My Best Friend by Queen.

Good choice. Friendship is super-important. Also Queen is always good. :P

Love Song by The Cure. (and covered by other bands)

Mainly because my relationship has been long distance so many times and each time I feel it gets a little stronger.

The song has some very strong emotions behind it, and it's gorgeous to boot. I have not seen it applied to long distance relationships, but it fits really well. :)
