Fic is performance art? Dude, you'd better send out the memo, cause I'm pretty sure most of us are here for fun and writing for other fans, not a general audience.

A performance for a limited audience is still a performance. A fan cosplay skit at a convention is a form of theater, and while it would probably be pointless to critique it like it was a Royal Shakespeare Company performance, it's still on the same continuum. And fanfic is still a story being published to an audience. A small audience, granted, but comedy interstellar military novels or lesbian mystery romances are books that go for a small target audience, and they're still legitimate fiction.

I think heavy criticism on light fanfic is probably pretty pointless unless the author actively wants it. But fanfic is still art being performed for an audience.

Are there courses at University being held for comedy interstellar military novels/lesbian mystery romances that involve sending critique to the authors of said works? Or, since it was a course specifically about kink fic, a course about these dinosaur porn novels?
