What parts of your fandom canon do you feel are overlooked or still left unexplored?

What's the most obscure thing you like in your fandom?

I feel like the season 3A promo really teased to this idea that Scott would be struggling to handle this violent, monstrous side of himself, but it's not something we ever really got in that season, and only saw teeny tiny glimpses of in 3B and 4.

I want more of that.

There is a horrible deficit when it comes to fic about Steve Rogers dealing with PTSD and being unfrozen. It perplexes me why because that is prime whumping material.

I agree. It makes me sad because I'd really love to read double PTSD fics where Bucky and Steve work through their PTSD together.

I always get excited when I see a Steve fic with the PTSD tag. But 99% of the time it is Bucky with PTSD. Or, for some odd reason, Tony.

Well...there was a whole movie about Tony's PTSD, so I'm not sure why that's at all odd.

Well even the movie itself kind of not-handles it and drops the issue entirely about halfway through, so I'm not sure what we are supposed to take away from it. Is he just okay now?

Most of the fic takes place pre-Avengers. Plus, I find it odd that they always have Steve as the one who struggles to comfort Tony. Because...Steve would have PTSD and be able to relate to him. Even if Steve knew is as shellshock or battle fatigue.

The mentally ill caring for the mentally ill is rarely a dynamic that works without outside help. If Steve were healthy, he could recognize, relate and help. But recognizing and helping Tony with his issues when his own issues aren't under control isn't a likely thing.

I'd love to see that scenario! Steve struggling to help Tony but failing because of his own issues.

I think I have read some Bucky/Steve fics that touch on that idea actually.

I don't know if I'd call it a deficit since I've seen those fics around, and I wasn't even specifically looking.

That said I've often found myself saying, "Why isn't anybody on Steve's side in these stories?"

It is a deficit compared to the number of Bucky and/or Tony PTSD fics.

I have no idea! I think a lot of it has to do with his portrayal in The Avengers. Hopefully Whedon does not screw his characterization up again.

That is true. Bucky I understand, Tony... less so. I mean it was kind of in IM3 but eh. It annoys me because I am always on Steve's side, first and foremost.

Oh god, yes, I have as much concern about AoU as I do anticipation. People don't seem to believe me when I say I just want to get it over with and move on to Cap 3 (though I'm not happy at all about them doing Civil War).

I doubt Civil War will be anything like the comics. I am glad the Russo brothers are doing Avengers 3.

There's quite a few things in Tolkien that I'd like to be explored more but my biggest ones are probably anything about Numenor and more about Arwen's time as Queen (how was she viewed? what kind of mother was she? did her brothers ever visit? did she bring elven handmaids? etc. etc.)

Borderlands - honestly? Stuff from Tales of the Borderlands since it adds some really interesting stuff for characters that *aren't* vault hunters. Like, for example, the bandits [and their Death Races], and just seeing Pandora from a non-Badass Vault Hunter perspective that I'm really loving.

Yo, Transformers Prime, do you remember that thing about zombie vampires on the metal moon? What about that abrupt Breakdown thing, like implying he'd have to owe Starscream a favor, or what about his fanonical bromance with Knock Out? What about Ultra Magnus, because I kept forgetting he was even in that show?

Oh wait you're talking about what fandom doesn't explore. I sure could use more meta/fic about Arcee's PTSD and intense foemance with Airachnid.

I'd like to explore whether Arcee had pulled the old "the prisoner was killed during an escape attempt" before she tried it on Starscream, or whether that was a one off. It sure looked like she knew what she was doing with that, just the right amount of restraints to remove and all that.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was legit escape attempts too, or something she would have known other vindictive Autobots to pull off (particularly Wreckers). I like to think she has her rage issues in check enough not to take them out on people who weren't directly involved with them.

Then again, the vehicons sure do attract some of the worst, albeit quick, deaths in this show, so I also wouldn't be surprised if they were used to "relieve" stress. I thought it was weird when Prime had to pull Ratchet off one for being a defenceless miner, because up until that point it seemed pretty indiscriminate.
