Do any of those shows claim to actually be universally representative of women? I haven't heard it, though if they do, that's obnoxious and dumb.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-21 12:29 am (UTC)(link)I think part of the problem is that even if shows themselves don't claim it, others will claim it on their behalf.
For instance, I don't think Girls ever claimed to be anything other than a depiction of a few very specific people. But critics were certainly more than happy to claim it as a representation of the entire experience of a gender and / or generation.
