Gay woman here. All the "criticism" I've heard about him is that he's a white straight guy so he should shut the fuck up and never talk about gay people ever. Maybe you just know more reasonable people.

I think part of the problem is that most people aren't going to come across a lot of reasonable criticism unless they're specifically looking for it while the less reasonable stuff gets shouted more loudly and sometimes shared by people going wtf where it's going to be seen more.

no, the criticism is more about media reaction to him, and how everyone is willing to crawl up his ass and praise him because he dared to sing about how he thought he was gay as a kid, and how tough that must be for the poor straight man, and how gracious he is to care about the LGBT community at all, and all the other ass-pats straight allies get in place of actual LGBT people. I never see anger at Macklemore, his stupid face has just become a placeholder for every time allies are given more praise than members of the community they're allying for.
