How do you feel about former fans? I hugely adored the series for many years, and I think the art, while it's got elements I could criticize, is still dynamic, energetic, and entertaining. But the Rebecca plotline, mixed in with a few other things, made it so I just couldn't overlook the flaws in the writing any more, and I just can't call myself a fan any more.

I can definitely sympathize with that! I'm disappointed in the direction Oda has taken some characters and plotlines (including Rebecca) so I can understand why you'd feel that way. I'm still holding out though because I feel like Oda pulls through in the most surprising ways.

Came here to say this.

I used to love One Piece, and the art never bothered me. It was the story that eventually pushed me away. You held on longer than me, because I don't even know who Rebecca is; I quit sometime around the Lobby. Robin's backstory was a huge disappointment to me I couldn't get past.

Hearing about the time skip and seeing everyone since has convinced me I was right to stop when I did.

Some arcs are hit or miss. I don't enjoy every part of the manga, but there is still a lot of good and I don't think the bad is as bad as some other shonen I've read.
