I'm in animal care, and most of the portrayals I've seen are fly-on-the-wall shows rather than fiction. That said, they tend to focus on either a) veterinary treatment, or b) welfare officers gathering up animals. With the occasional cute shot of someone bottle-feeding a kitten, or a family playing with their new dog in the garden. In my experience, the main component in animal care is cleaning up every type of mess imaginable, but uh, I do see why that wouldn't make such good television.

That said, I did feed a lot of kittens today.

I have to laugh when they make it look like the most strenuous part of animal care is grooming and feeding.
Noooo. Those are the rewarding jobs after all of the touching poop jobs are done.
