boy do I feel you. especially since "dat art" is the go-to for anyone who isn't interested in reading it.

as someone who used to think the art was crap? I was so, so wrong. For so, so long. I started reading, then I started overlooking the art, then I started noticing when the art improved, then I started to love the art. I should have sucked it up and not been an "eww the art sucks" snob way back when, I missed out on so many years of great fandom.

idk about you but I sometimes get sneak-attacks of series hate from "used to be" fans, who just want to slide into any fandom space to tell you how Oda sucks and this storyline sucks and his women suck and you suck for still liking this series. I feel like there's a ton of people hate-reading it now just so they can stroke some kind of hate-boner for Oda. It makes me not want to approach any meta discussion anymore, even here, for fear of being blindsided with this hate.

As for me I just got so absorbed in the story that I didn't even pay attention to the art after a point. The characters are engaging and the story is good and that's the stuff that matters the most. Once your used to the art, it's not even bad. I guess most people are just used to a more 'realistic' style whereas One Piece embraces being cartoony, which makes it endearing.
