I'll actually answer that one, I didn't ship Shawn with Gus and JD with Turk because they acted like an old married couple, they were all pretty comfortable with their level of love for each other and as such personally I always assumed that if they would be gay for someone it wouldn't be each other because it would have happened long before the shows even started.

Then again I didn't ship JD* or Turk with anyone except the canon couples, I did on the other hand ship Shawn with Lassiter, because their relationship could have pretty much been taken out of the "Making_Excuses list of pairings she ships tropes", their skin colour had nothing to do with it at all.

*I think I didn't ship JD with Dr. Cox because The Janitor exists and I totally prefer Dr.Cox/Janitor also JD saw Perry as a father, so that wouldn't have worked for me.
