Also the first time my parents ever caught me listening to NIN at the beginning of my teen goth phase I got a stern talking to. I explained it was just music though, and they believed me because my parents were atheists and also awesome.
You're so right though... nothing like goth rock and nu metal and metal to bring out the most eyebrow-raising lyrics. Nearly everything Disturbed, Korn, Wumpscut, Trent Reznor, Rammstein, etc have ever written is a little ...eehhhh when you take lyrics into account.

I was very surprised that (aside from aforementioned Rammstein incident) my parents didn't care what I listened to after a certain point. I remember at one point saying fuck it and listening to Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails and VNV Nation or the like, loud enough to be heard outside my room... crickets.
Then again, my parents were weird and were HAPPY when I got into the goth subculture. "Thank God you're not wearing those horrible pastels anymore" was the reaction. I went more antiquity goth, though, with ruffles and cravats and long skirts, and I didn't go for the make-up until after I moved out. 30 years old two days ago now, still a goth.
Disturbed, Down with the Sickness, the uncut version. Nuff said. I can't even listen to that one sometimes.

Oh, Down With The Sickness. I always skip that part, and I am by far not the only one of my friends who does it. If it's ever being played in a group of people, there's a 95% chance someone will reach over and skip through it. I personally like the rest of the song just fine but I just nope on out when the "mommy" part starts playing.
