Name the fandom. And repeats, etc.

I'm considering the "move social justice secrets to the bottom" thing, and I don't think moving would be a terrible idea. But I think it'd be difficult to establish where to draw the line. Secrets like #2 (mentions atheism), #6 (mentions racism), #8 (mentions misogyny re: female characters), and #15 (mentions fanservice, etc.) - would count to some people and not to others as "social justice topics."

To me, none of the ones up there would count.

Maybe if it's only secrets that directly address social justice issues (e.g. "this show is not feminist and if you like it I hate you"), existing wank in fandom (e.g. "I can't believe some subgroup of fans are offended at this thing I am not offended at"), or groups of people (e.g. "look at these white people and/or things white people do")? We can try that out for a while and see if it sticks, unless someone else can come up with a better suggestion.

And for the people who LIKE the wank, think about it this way: it benefits both the people who don't want to see the wank and the people who are LOOKING for wank (and I know some of you do! Which is fine), because it'd make it convenient for you to FIND it, too, instead of having to scroll up and down trying to track threads in the middle of an ever-growing comment page (which is a pain in the ass, I speak from experience).

I think things like the secrets that are posted today are fine, but things like yesterday's "I had no idea black women felt the same way about white women that white women feel about white men" could be pushed to the bottom. Would they be in the failbar? OR just after every other secret?

I think it's too subjective to efficient and trying to categorize and anticipate what will and won't be wank worthy will be a headache, especially since the spontaneity of wank is half the fun.

Although I worry that it might cause problems for you -- people unhappy and ready to scrap over what the relative position of a secret within a post implies about the secret's content -- I think that as long as submitted secrets appear SOMEWHERE (i.e., they aren't being discarded) then put them where you like.

i'm not opposed to moving sjw secrets to the end of the post, but i'm not sure how just mentioning atheism counts as sjwism? the secret here isn't even talking about oppression or prejudice atheists may experience, it's just talking about their own (lack of) religious views. will you also be moving all secrets that mention any religion to the bottom, or just atheism? :\

Any secret that mentions Tumblr should get this treatment. That way you'll screen most of the SJW stuff upfront, with minimal effort, and the rest you can screen as you go?

I don't support it both because it's so hard to draw a line and because I really think it will decrease the attention that secrets get. When they're jumbled, there's incentive to pay attention. If you hit the "sjw" line it seems like something akin to highway hypnosis could set in.

In practice too hard to actually filter the two out, and will lead to people dimissing certain sets of secrets even more so, and historically they've been some of th most interesting.

Eh, do whatever you like and if you're up for it. The order of secrets, potentially wanky or not, doesn't quite matter to me even if it's a large thread I'd rather avoid. I take one look at a thread that has whatever number of comments I don't want to read, and I click the (Hide XX comments) and VOILA I barely have to scroll past it.

I have no problem with this idea, though I'm not sure why whoever suggested it doesn't simply click the "hide comments" option. Is it not available if viewing through mobile devices or something?

Wank is 50% of the fun of f!s. But, I agree with anything you think's reasonable to reduce people being triggered. It's easy to enjoy something as wank when it's not targeting you after all.
