This reminds me of the Death Eater and Hydra cosplayers. I can't help but associate them with racist ideologies that have parallels in the real world (and in fact, Hydra was explicitly set up as Nazi Germany's secret superpower research division).

Truth. I dressed up like Bellatrix Lestrange a time or two, mostly because she was one bad-mother-shut-yo-mouth and my hair is much like her hair.

It had less to do with her ideologies and more to do with looking like a stark raving badass [aesthetically speaking]. In my opinion.

Yeah, I agree. It's stupid and I understand there's a huge difference between fantasy and reality but when someone is all over groups like hydra and the death eaters, I can't help but kinda of. Eehhhh.

But I know my feeling that way is the problem, since people are free to like all kinds of fictional shit.
