I feel guilty about it and I don't think I deserve it, because other people might need their resources more than I do and some of those are veterans.
I keep trying to tell myself I'll be able to volunteer and donate sometime later and pay it back I guess. It's not working though.

what sort of non-profit is it?

It's an organisation that helps people find and train service dogs for assistance with daily activities. They also help with certification and applying for transport permits.
I've needed a lot of help recently doing really normal and easy things, which is pretty humiliating. The people close to me don't mind and they go out of their way to make it seem like I'm doing them a favour by letting them help me, but I'd much prefer to be independent.
