This. The original "afterlife" (in most of the Christian texts, anyway) consists of an actual, real, next life, in a healed world/environment that everyone gets to experience, where they learn how to take care of the world, and each other, and love God. Yes, everyone, not just the handwaving hippy clappers who say they're the only ones gonna get "saved" and go to "heaven" with the harps and the halos.

So, you know the bit in Acts where Paul managed to get the two factions fighting against each other? It was because he (and the early Church) believed in and preached the resurrection of the dead. It was only a factional sect of Jews (the Sadducees) who did NOT believe this, it was a pretty much across-the-board Jewish understanding of "life after life." (Nowadays not so much, but eh, we won't go there.) Mainstream "traditional" Christians get tetchy whenever Biblical support is presented for this. "Judaizing" etcetera.

TL;DR: When it comes to life after death, the Jews are right.
