It does seem to me, in this case, that it may be misunderstanding the cultural context?

I mean, I don't care that much, and the idea of a valet who is romantically attached to his employer is not utterly unheard of, but that doesn't seem to be what those characters are.

If you do it because you are colossally misunderstanding what a manservant is, you look ignorant.

Look, people don't ship things because it's logical or culturally sound or even because it fits the characters. They ship things because something about the dynamic interests them. It's pure fantasy.

You are looking at this way too seriously. Fandom doesn't work this way.
