It bothers me that she's called Thor. Thor wasn't a persona, like Captain America. IT WAS HIS NAME. I can't get past this.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Try harder then.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
same.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You do know that you are the villan in this, right? You are not right to be this way.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Told you, Trolls don't care whether we a re right or wrong. We know most of the time we are, we just want the attention. Just the reaction. Thor is THOR, not a girl Thor! She can't have his name.

Shit, those last two sentences were meant to go in another reply. Just ignore those.

Yeah, it is like that guy, Captain Roberts, that is his name. Some blond cabin boy can't go around calling himself Roberts, that is the old captain's name.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get this reference.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You have lived an unfulfilled life.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Princess Bride. Dread Pirate Roberts. It took me a minute too - the "Captain Roberts" threw me off.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
But... you've completely missed the point. Dread Pirate Roberts IS a persona, not a name. Each person then takes it up, like Captain America.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe by the time Westley came along, but not the first time. The first time, it was a name. Then it went on to become a best selling franchise.

Wait...they call her Thor? That is hilariously bad.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, turning a name into a title is more a Roman or Russian thing not norse.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-22 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
good thing they're fiction, then, and nowadays basically godly magic aliens.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-23 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'm kind of impressed with how you've managed to whine your way through this entire thread every time someone dares say something negative about this crap comic. Want some cheese to go along with that?
elaminator: (Thor: TDW - dat smile dat hair)

[personal profile] elaminator 2015-03-22 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get it either but I don't get a lot of things about comics. (Has Thor ever been used as a title before? As in, "Has there ever been a different Thor than, well, Thor?" If it has then no biggie, but I find it odd otherwise. Not odd enough to slam the comic, but I haven't actually read it so I can't say anything about its quality.)

Asgard is complicated.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-23 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
There have been other people that Earth has called Thor yes. For people of earth it is just a name since most people don't think he's really you know a God. There's been several other people that have wielded the hammer and been called Thor.
elaminator: (Thor: Sif (with spear))

[personal profile] elaminator 2015-03-23 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
In that case: whatever. She can be called Thor.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-23 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it's not the first time someone else used the name Thor. Thunderstrike was first called Thor when he took over the book, in the early 90s. He kept both the book and the name for years.

It shouldn't affect you, since you don't read enough comics to know that yes, it is a title. Other people have been Thor and been referred to as Thor before.

Except they were men.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-23 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
There have been other people that have taken the name of Thor. A Space Horse for one.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-23 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, I'm quibbling, but I feel like "A Space Horse" is not "other people." Also, "A Space Horse" is perfect as it is.
