Ha. Well, I wouldn't say I hate him, but I do find him a little annoying, and I'm also slightly confused by how much people seem to like him. I think it probably all comes down to thinking he's hot, though.

I identify with his well-intentioned ineptitude and love the moments when we get to see how genuinely good he is at certain aspects of the job. I also like to see characters actually learning from their mistakes, and he's consistently doing that.

He's also hot, but that's the least of why I like him.

Like Declan tries to apologize for it and Sonny's all "You broke my nose, you asshole!" and Declan fucks it all up and Sonny realizes that Declan not pegging him as a cop isn't a testament to his acting skills as much as it's a crack at his cop skills? And they get into a spectacular argument as Declan tries to explain that Sonny is just inexperienced and green and that just enrages Sonny more and it turns into one of those "I'll show you inexperienced" and Declan doesn't know how he ends up on his knees blowing Sonny instead of the other way around, but Sonny has his fingers wrapped up in Declan's hair and he's squeezing and pulling at it and making these obscene noises that makes Declan take jerk himself off as he's going down on Sonny and when Sonny comes he leaves scratches on Declan's skin that are going to be hard to explain away, but he doesn't even care? That kind of thing?
