(Anonymous) 2015-03-24 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)Do you ever have American accents used to sell you things? Like, here there's a Scots lawn fertilizer product that uses a Scottish guy in their commercials (whose accent is dubious).
If so, what kinds of products are sold this way? Can you tell if they use American actors or fake American accents and are the accents any good?

Then again, I've not watched TV for quite a while now so I have no idea how much of that dynamic has changed over the years.

I wouldn't mind it if it was one of the ads that featured a famous American, because I expect them to have the accent, but the "normal" people in the ads tend to feel off.
