I'm not sure why you're bringing sexuality into it, since in Thedas almost nobody cares about that (unless there's issues around heirs and marriages, like in Dorian's case). Sera doesn't hate herself for being a lesbian, does she? Sounds like you're just making a random dig at a privileged group there to stir wank.

This is me giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you are not a troll, OP.

You are going to get a lot of people saying 'troll' because you seem to be conflating real-world privileged/powerful groups with fictional-world privileged/powerful groups. This character was not taught to hate elves by straight white humans in particular -- just humans.

You may be trying to communicate that you disapprove of people in the real-world privileged/powerful group judging someone from the fictional-world oppressed group for picking up the prejudices of the fictional-world privileged/powerful group.

I think this is reasonable, from a "you don't know what sort of pressure she's under, don't judge" perspective.

It is not reasonable from a "it's your fault" perspective. Unless they are also the writers, it is not their fault.

I don't think even the first argument is reasonable. She's a fictional character. She's not under any sort of pressure because she's not real.

I tend to agree -- Sera's a lesbian, so "straight" (and from other characters, "white"), don't really come into it -- but given the Alienages and the way that the elves have been treated by humans, I do think OP has a point in where the writers may have been coming from in characterizing her hatred of her own race. I'm not touching "fault" with someone else's fifty-foot pole, though.
