You're right. It's not that simple. But it's a huge fucking step in the right direction, and pointing out the need for it is never wrong, given the stigma surrounding mental health.

Unless your vague complaining is about the difficulty sometimes of obtaining said help, in which case, maybe focus more on your words not your rage, and I agree that getting mental health help should be easier than it is.

sorry, but no, they're 100% right.

i used to have pretty severe anxiety. just the thought of having to speak to someone on the phone would make me panicky. if someone had told me i needed to get professional help, guess what? they would have been right.

And if somebody had seen you stressing out over the phone, walked up to you and said "What the fuck is wrong with you? Get help," would you have found that useful?

actually, yes. i spent a lot of time trying to rationalize to myself that it wasn't as big of a deal as it was, that a lot of people got nervous about talking on the phone and shit like that. it wasn't until i realized that no, normal people do not go into a panic over the thought of making a phone call that i knew i needed to go do something about it. it would really have helped me if someone had given me a kick in the pants like that.
