(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 02:52 am (UTC)(link)Text: “NARUTO” AND “SASUKE” ARE NOT SYNONYMS FOR “GENERIC SHONEN PROTAGONIST” AND “GENERIC SHONEN RIVAL”
They are actual characters, whose motivations and backstories are specific to the narrative they exist in. I’m mad because I love shonen rivals and it annoys me when they’re called the Sasuke of their series. While my favs never stop working hard to put aside their loner habits for the sake of the team, Sasuke stopped try8ing long ago.
I pointed this out to someone on Tumblr and received this reaction pic in reply. Yeah, I’m overly invested in anime, w/e.
B!S: To illustrate the shallowness of the comparisons made, I’ve noticed that Aomine EDaiki of KnB has never been called Basketball!Sasuke. Probably because he’s buff and dark-skinned, not pale and lean-looking like the other so-caled Sasukes.
