I am for the legalization of recreational drugs.

But that's just because I want people to STFU about them.

I look down on anyone who regularly uses drugs.

Related: at this point, I feel like better drug education is our only option to reduce drug abuse. D.A.R.E. was a giant steaming failure, for much the same reasons abstinence-only fails at keeping kids from getting pregnant, so why not try something that's actually honest?

Yes this please. I have a loved one whom I adore madly. I swear, weed is like the majority of his conversation material. *facepalm*

Here in Oregon, weed becomes legal in July. Come on out, the food's great and the beer is incredible.

I don't drink coffee/tea/soda. Nor do I drink alcohol.

I drink a couple times a year when I visit my parents for holidays, though. But I don't consider that regular.

Regular enough to be counted as a drug user, friend.

Leaving aside that even if you were a teetotaller, chances are you have other addictive behaviours like too much Facebook or Youtube or videogames that you use to reward yourself.

All it means is that your vice really doesn't make you morally superior to anyone whose vice is a beer on the weekend or sharing a bottle of wine with friends.

Not by my definition.

But yes, I do have addictive behaviors. I think everyone does.

But I look down on recreational drug users. Sue me. I look down on people who enjoy Nascar too and they don't give a shit.

Someone already made the comment I was going to make. Twice a year is regular if that's a recurring pattern.

I should have clarified that I meant regular in terms of its second definition: "done or happening frequently" instead of the primary "arranged in or constituting a constant or definite pattern, especially with the same space between individual instances."

So you are technically correct. The best kind of correct for some people.

You are going after this willful misinterpretation of someone's words really hard, aren't you? Sorry, but it does sound like anon hit close to home for you and you're being way more defensive about it than you realize.

Nope. Try again. I'm not a habitual drug user. Hell, there was a period of my life where I didn't even consume alcohol or coffee, and that period was around five and a half years.

You know what I do defend though? Other people's choices as functioning members of society and the stigma that some drugs (marijuana namely) are "worse for you" and "more dangerous" than the ones that are currently legalized.

Holy whit you couldn't make it to six years old without knocking back a swig? That is definitely a hard knock life!

Caffeine didn't fry my brother's brain as much as weed did. A lot of people who can't function properly when they're high all the time can function with caffeine just fine. So yeah, I think weed is worse than caffeine. I look down on potheads because those I know are non-functioning wastes of space. I think alcohol is equally bad, though.

Not a double standard -- you assumed that I meant "regular" in the sense of a definite pattern of behavior. I meant it in the sense of frequently engaging in an activity.

If someone smokes pot twice a year, I don't care, I won't judge them. Hell, snort coke twice a year if you want.

Get high recreationally every day? Yep, I judge that.

I actually meant the double standard of not considering alcohol and caffeine to be "drugs". Which most people have, honestly.
