(Anonymous) 2015-03-27 01:25 am (UTC)(link)Then I come up against blanket statements that "anyway, slashers are all straight teenaged girls". I saw that one on AfterElton (as it was called) and you think they should know better.
It's that kind of bizarre misrepresentation that just doesn't tally up to many people's actual experiences.
If we survey the fanwriters/fanartists involved in slash, who are the more active participants, I suspect that the straight teenaged girls are hugely outnumbered. Perhaps it's a different case if you just look at slash readers. But the actual creative communities are definitely more diverse than that stereotype.
