I'm not sure whether to blink repeatedly or laugh out loud, coming as I do from a context where it's considered immoral to execute someone who's mentally ill. (This leads to grotesque court battles over whether someone is too crazy or stupid to execute by virtue of a few IQ points, so maybe your way is at least more morally consistent.)

To be honest, I'm a bit half-and-half on the "mentally unsound" part, since I know from real life how diverse mental illnesses can be.

But all in all, if you are mentally unsound yet still able to think cognitively to live (not survive, but live) and you commit a murder, off to the spanking table with you!
