I don't know about the fandom at large, but I have to admit, I don't much like Carlos anymore; even putting aside the current state of his relationship with Cecil, he's just been... weird lately. Like in episode 59 when he's trying to talk Cecil into visiting him and he's all "Cannot wait [to see you again]. Cannot. It's gonna be good." in that really creepy voice? I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that Cecil's actually talking to a changeling or something that's going to try and devour him or whatever.

Of course, I also think Night Vale should have ended after the first year and is frankly pretty awful at this point, so there you go. (And yet I have the book on preorder. I never did know when to quit.)

I think it says something about Night Vale that I honest to god don't know if Carlos was just incredibly horny or evil. Either is possible. (Maybe both, idk.)

I hope desert!Carlos isn't a changeling (and the real Carlos is dead?!) but that wouldn't even terribly surprise me at this point.

(That said, I still love the show, a lot, even though this "Carlos in the desert otherworld" plot-line has dragged on way too long; I hope there's an end in sight.)

There is that! They did that on the Librarian live show too - I was thinking how creepy Carlos sounded again, and then Cecil started in on the double entendres and I just kind of went, "Oh. Or horny, could be horny too."

Honestly, I do think that the desert-otherworld storyline is going to resolve with a happy ending at the end of the third year of the show, but right now it just feels... well, like I said, really weird.

That's probably what TPTB want, though. They like to make us wonder (and in some cases, drag things out forever, never explaining them. We still don't know much about The Man in The Tan Jacket, and so many others).

I wish I had your confidence, but Carlos is acting so odd and not being forthcoming with Cecil, and I can't tell if he wants to stay, or something hinky is going on making him want to stay, and I feel like their relationship is doomed. Which I don't want, because they can be so cute together, but lately things have not been pretty. It's starting to bum me out, tbh. I don't know how much longer I can keep listening to Cecil be this sad. (The anniversary is months away, right? Ugh, please let it not take that long. It would make a certain kind of sense to do it then, though.)

I haven't heard the podcast in almost a year, but watch Carlos is being turned "evil" by the desert. Calling it now. Oh, and a rescue party to get him back, because why not!
