This is my feeling as well. The fanart part of fandom seems to have a much stronger straight male presence than fanfic, especially the porny stuff. I've also heard tell of some anime shows that have more guys than usual writing fics, particularly the absurd boob yuri bait ones, so maybe it depends on the media.
