Yeah, I agree it can be used negatively, too, but I see it a lot more commonly as a positive intensifier. It's possible that's just who I hang around, too. I haven't seen a lot of good arguments against it, either, but honestly, at this point it's become more a question of, "Do I really want to use this word and risk someone throwing a shit fit when I could just use a different word instead?" Which... is kinda sad, really. The level of language-limiting you see from SJWs, especially, is disturbing to me (as evidenced by "heard" and "seen").

That's interesting. I don't necessarily have a problem with the words racist/sexist/ableist/homophobic/etc but I personally try to say why XYZ is, whether that be describing the behavior, or the history of the word (I have actually run into -- usually very young, 20 or younger -- people that did not realize that "retarded" was a relatively recent/sometimes still in use phrase for people with mental disabilities/developmental delays; they thought it was just another word for "stupid"), or whatnot. I don't find it very helpful to just say "XYZ is ableist" without giving context. In part, because I also prefer to educate people (it's a Thing for me), and if I say why up front, then they don't have to ask, or be too embarrassed by not knowing why it is that they don't ask.
