You didn't specify the fandom but I can sorta understand. The same thing happened in my fandom circle a couple of years back (don't remember the fandom specifically, we all shared a few, likely anime). Aja led the witch hunt, so this secret and the thing about her a few days ago really brought this back for me.

The case for plagiarism, if I recall correctly, was kind of flimsy, but Aja was so gungho about it (though it wasn't her fic that was supposedly ripped off). It didn't affect me directly but I had mutual friends on both sides of the fight and it was incredibly ugly.

From what I know? Started out as a Harry Potter BNF, involved in every fandom known to man, and by all accounts a terrible person.

Somehow I've avoided ever having her as a friend despite the fact we have a bazillion mutual friends and have spoken on the phone once.

Maybe you should speak out against it, OP.

If you're publicly condemning the act, then I bet lots of others will follow. I'm sure there would be others in fandom who think it was the wrong thing to do.

Text: kms…last year a group of elitist fic writers have unbeknownst to other members (or perhaps really just through aggressive sensationalism) overrun this fucking fandom and chased out a kid, accusing them of “plagiarizing”. tbh it was an overreaction of pretty immeasurable proportions

nobody should have been attacked so publically or so shamefully. it was basically cyberbullying

but i can’t say anything because the truth is i was a member of that group and even though i feel sorry there is nothing i can really fix about it.. i’m unsure about this whole thing to begin with.

These things really stress me out. Fandom gets so intense, it's why I haven't been properly in it for years now. I just write fic and have as little do with other fans as possible.

Some poor (very popular) writer was hounded off Tumblr recently for "plagiarising". It wasn't even fic, it was a few silly jokes on Tumblr posts, and nothing that two people couldn't have separately come up with. It was both silly and incredibly nasty.

I took the first letter from each line, and the fandom spells out to "kuroko no basuke".

Nice poem, OP. Snice you said it happened last year, I assume you're talking about what transpired between pyrodynamo & hifi against aomeanie? I think one person tried to call pyro out on her bs but got pretty badly trounced for it, so I understand why you wouldn't want to say anything.
