Well, to be fair, as far as I recall not many people ended happily on DiGrassi anyhow (it was to some extent a soap opera, right? It's been years since I watched it with my kids.)

I do recall that Adam was a good character for several seasons (wiki says 78 episodes), so at least he had a good run -- and unlike some, after his "topic" (I don't know how else to put it) was explored he became "just Adam" -- meaning he became more than a character only defined by his trans identity.
