Human child: If it's a real name that predates the use in fiction, sure. I like the names Simon (for Simon Illyan and Simon Moreley) and Geoffrey (for the Geoffrey in The Lion in Winter) a lot. My niece is named Cordelia for Cordelia Naismith, the Cordelia of King Lear, and Anne "Will you call me Cordelia?" Shirley.

Pet: Anything goes. My cat is named Chrestomanci. If we'd got him about 6 months later, there's a very good chance he would have been named Mr. Cat for the cat of that name in Tamsin.
