I like both, and feel most interested when a piece of media can do both in a satisfying way. (TOS for example, was obviously campy as hell but still did serious topics justice when it decided to.)

I can embrace all the angst and heartbreak of a serious story too, but I need to be in the right mood for it.

I knew I've forgotten about another series with campy qualities, but still serious and enjoyable: Star Trek TOS (recently watched the episode "The City on the Edge of Forever", which was seriously heartbreaking at the end, but good). I've been watching it on weekdays at the MeTV channel and it's also on Netflix. It's something to watch on a quiet afternoon, I'd say.

I almost mentioned "The City on the Edge of Forever" in my comment but it's one of the most popular Star Trek episodes so I figured it wasn't necessary. It was beautiful, wasn't it? (The title is so damn poetic too.)

TOS is a fun show to binge watch but it can be pretty heartbreaking and insightful, too.
