I always think it's sort of different when it comes to a 1st-person narrator though.

It all depends on how reliable and how self-aware you consider each particular narrator to be. And personally, I think Harry's got enough issues regarding sex that I have no problem imagining him as bi-but-in-denial-about-it.

Yep. A huge point of using 1st person is that the narration isn't objective and therefore not reliable.

I don't think it'd make a huge difference, tbh. Ships happen between people who HATE one another in canon, people who are married to other people, people who aren't technically the same species, so... first person POV is not a big obstacle.
