I always imagine the blood would be use for really dark blood magic.

My friend was just suggesting that I should write about the use of menstrual blood in magic last night but my friend was thinking it would be for good things because that blood was meant to sustain life.

I'm sure there would be plenty of uses for menstrual blood--in medieval times, it was thought to sour wine, rust iron, and cause rabies, among other things.

But I'm guessing that really dark blood magic requires that you kill something.

I feel like menstrual blood would be considered the lame way of doing blood magic, assuming it would have similar uses. Those who use it are laughed at because they didn't kill anyone.

Why would it have to be really dark though? You don't have to hurt anyone to get the blood. Could be ordinary run-of-the-mill blood magic.

Menstrual blood might even be really in demand. Maybe women can make money selling it.

Dragon Age blood magic. Usually it takes either the mage cutting up their own arms, or a mage killing someone else for power.

The one fic I ever read that addressed that had a line in it about how the templars would be suspicious of every female mage in existence if they knew they could use blood magic every month.
