Blindness. The twist that leads into a post apocalypse setting is great and Mark Ruffalo is the cherry on top.

... not so much that it covers up a dark, grim chunk in the movie where a gang takes over the main characters' isolation ward and turns it into a hellhole where the only way for people not from the gang to get food/supplies is to surrender their women to be used as sex slaves, which causes the death of one and is really disturbing.

Is that based on the book? I liked the premise of the book and I love Mark Ruffalo.

Yep! I was considering buying the book to read, but like I said, that middle part is really hard hitting.

As a premise, I love it, though, and can think fondly of the beginning and ending of the movie.

I haven't seen the movie but I read the book and it was definitely a little hard to get through at times. I still want to read the sequel/companion/whatever though.

I was considering buying the book, hoping that it might not be as... I don't know, disturbing as it was in the movie, but based on what you said, I don't think that's the case.

Which is a bit sad because I often find books to be better at telling the story than a movie does.
