definitely agreed on washing dishes by hand

why were dishwashers even invented?

Even at work where there isn't time to thoroughly wash everything by hand, I still like scrubbing them down before putting them down before putting them in the dishwasher. It's relaxing imo.

To save time and because it can really wreck your hands depending on how many times/how long you spend washing.

For one person, it's not too bad - for a whole family? Speaking from experience [my grandmother never used her dishwasher, and by the time I lived with her it might not even have been working] it can lead to really painful cracking on your hands.

I can only wash dishes by hand if I were gloves, otherwise, even 15 minutes with the most gentle "aloe vera"'ed and what-not watered-down dishwasher will split my skin open D:

Yeah, I couldn't really do that because by the time I got to the dishes [between living on a farm and going to college full time there just wasn't time during the day] I was having to multi-task enough that it just never seemed to work out.

Being gloves would be pretty handy sometimes, wouldn't it? :P

Yes, it is more time-consuming than it sounds/should be.

Also, more than half of the time used in Cooking and Baking is just washing everything you dirtied up. They sure don't mention that on cooking magazines and TV shows...
