(Anonymous) 2015-04-02 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)For me, it's Best Buddies (a group meant to have high schoolers befriend and mentor students with disabilities), only because I was in it in high school and it was filled with hypocrites who were only in it for the community service hours or because they knew it made them look good. I was the one of the few who ever sat with my "Buddy" at lunch. I overheard the president making an ableist joke. They didn't really care. So I quit.
I love the idea and I'm sure it does good things in a lot of schools, but I can't help but feel many are probably like mine was.
