I don't give money to Kickstarters as a rule. I've seen enough people get screwed by them that I don't trust them. This goes for pretty much any sort of internet funding, crowd or otherwise.

Well, I don't know anything about the NC one, but the Homestuck one's been pretty legit? Imean, game's takign a long time but there's clear progress and all the other rewards came in. I trust the game will be made.

I've had really good luck with kickstarters, or maybe just good judgement? The people I've invested in have had a history of not flaking/delivering on rewards.

DA. I shake my head at anyone complaining about how long Hiveswap is taking because they are making a real game and those take time. Artists have been employed and there is tons going on behind the scenes that we just aren't seeing because professional companies typically don't show you everything they are doing until a game is complete.

Hiveswap has actually given us a lot of previews for a game that isn't even out yet, think about how many game companies give you like... 1 piece of art before the game release.

DA. Not to mention that fans comparing Hiveswap to other games miss that they're usually already well into development by the time the developers go to Kickstarter. Of course it's gonna seem like they get done quicker!

Plus, while we don't know how much progress they had made with the studio that was supposed to make the game, the agreement fell through and they had to start over with the project from the beginning, plus whatever legal shenanigans involved creating their own in-house game development studio.

I have not ever had any problems with kickstarter. Granted I don't donate to a lot of things because I don't have the money, but everything I've donated to I got what I ordered and the project finished, even if it took a while.

I think you just need to be picky about what you fund and I think most people don't realize some of these projects are going to take A LONG TIME. Making a game, movie, show, whatever tends to take time. Heck even sending just the rewards is really time consuming, if you have a lot of backers that means a lot of time getting together packages and shipping, and a lot of people putting together these kickstarters are not a pro shipping company like Amazon so they have to do all these things themselves. It takes time.
