I'm not even going to bother going anon because I have no shame.

I've considered hiring an escort for social events (not sex), and actually found an agency that I would consider using. It's expensive, yes, but a few people in the social pages have written about having positive experiences. I'm sometimes invited to things I can bring a plus one to, and my friends mostly grew up outside of my family's social circle, so I wouldn't ask them.

I think it would be nice to have someone to even pretend to like going to the theatre with me, or even spend the weekend away and be introduced to my family, just for my nanna's sake. She's upset that I don't date and she worries about me being alone. Is it a bad lie if it makes someone I love happy?

I'm not sure if I could ever have sex with someone under those circumstances, because it brings the idea of consent into question, and that's a deal-breaker for me. I guess it's sort of a grey area, especially with escorts because they get paid the same amount whether they have sex or don't have sex.

If it helps, he is in fact consenting to have sex with you, in exchange for money. The same way someone would consent to shovel snow off your walk, in exchange for money. They might or might not be into shoveling your walk if they weren't getting paid, but that's a side issue because they're getting paid to do a job, same as any other.
