Fandom in general was a minor factor in choosing my field of study.

Now I'm having doubts if it (the field) was the right choice.

I'm not angry, I just smh at myself for letting my fondness for fandom tip the scales that little bit.

I guess for me it helped guide me too. I'm not disappointed. I would have ended up in the same place either way I think.

Hey, I went to film school. That might have been a teeny tiny bit influenced by my love for fiction.

Is it too late to switch or pick up a new one? Ngl I'm in a place in my life where I have no idea if I should pursue what I'm passionate about (art, particularly sequential), or just find something I'm good at already, and just focus on improving that. I do hope you kick yourself less and find your drive again, even in what you already chose.

Remember, it is never to late to start to pick a new salad.

Ace Attorney Fandom?

That's the fandom I think about whenever I think about people who choose a career based on media. The real life law field isn't all that exciting usually. No pointing of fingers dramatically, nor any loud, declarative "OBJECTIONS!" either.

I helped my lawyer cousin out with his lawyering duties one time. I sorted paperwork. :V

Nope, it wasn't one particular fandom. But your comment made me realise "tip the scales" could have been a stealthy reference if it was AA.

Ngl, if law were really that fun, I would have considered it.

For anyone else still interested: I took media studies/mass communication/whateveryouwanttocallit.

I also went into a field influenced by fandom and it turned out to not be the right one for me. That said, I still learned a lot there, and I think I might not have found my passions if it weren't for the time I spent at uni there. So even if it might not be the right place for you it doesn't have to mean you wasted that time.

I'm at the stage of applying for PhDs in genetics and molecular biology, my decision to study which 5 years ago was heavily influenced by my love of X-Men; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Good luck out there!
