I'm cranky cause my guests last night kept feeling the need to tell me to "don't become that dog person" aka someone who never walks their dog.

I walk them every day and when I can't they play with each other. They are healthy and fit. Your dog is a fat hyperactive collie who needs 3 walks a day. Our dogs and dog walking habits are not comparable.

My confession is I wish I had told them off straight away instead of stewing over it.

Seriously. Your dog is fat. Not obese, but certainly fat. My dogs are not skinny, they're healthy and trim and muscled like fuck. Your dog is fat you don't get to judge my walkies

Next time just tell them their dog needs to lose weight. Fuck them if they think they can judge you for having a healthy animal.

I know :( I should have properly told them off.

According to their vet their dog is now a good weight (she was obese before) but... She's still quite chunky. You can't make out her muscles and she's got flab. They don't get to judgie judge >:(

Ugh. When my last dog started having health problems and people were like "you never walk her". Um, her heart is failing and she has to be carried upstairs to go to bed at night. Judge away!

Sometimes I took her on little walks, but I carried her most of the way.

We used to live together and I rarely walked their dog cause well she's not my dog? But it's completely different when they're mine. I will walk these little assholes and exercise them and feed them properly and train them and I did specifically look for dogs who only need 1 walk not hyperactives. He'll they have backpacks for weight training on short walks and to get them ready for camping.

I've lost 2kg in the 6 weeks I've had them. I'm pretty sure they're getting regular walks!

Of course when they get old and have health problems the activity levels will be adjusted appropriately and fuck ppl who suggest otherwise

Yep. I hate people who assume the size of a dog has anything to do with exercise requirement. It really doesn't.

I'm currently looking at larger dogs, and a few people have been like "but you don't have a big yard!" and I get that, but some big dogs are temperature sensitive and pretty happy to lounge around for most of the day, so they're perfectly suited to being indoors.

Oh man, people tell us our dog is fat all the time. Believe it or not, he's trim almost to the point of being too light. He's a lab-chow-bulldog mix who looks like a mini lab, people see his barrel chest and immediately think fat lab. He doesn't get long walks (anymore!) because he's old and becoming decrepit, backdafuckoff!

Ahem... Yes, I understand the dog judgement. I'm sorry, it sucks.
