I've never laughed at The Oatmeal or Hyperbole and a Half (which seems to be the same sort of humor), but I wouldn't write them off completely. For instance: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/dog_paradox

That is confusing to me, as I don't see them as the same kind of humor at ALL. And I've laughed at Hyperbole and a Half harder than I've laughed at almost anything.

ia. I find HaaH much funnier and very different, as well (though I also like The Oatmeal).

HaaH feels silly, hyperbolic (duh) and also a bit self-absorbed. The Oatmeal feels more like standard humor that's less focused on the author and more on just stuff in general.

Same. They are similiar only in that they are both popular.

haha, that is my favorite Oatmeal strip :)

...how in the world do you think the Oatmeal and Hyperbole and a Half are the same sort of humor? They're completely different. The only thing that's similar about them is the art level.

I like The Oatmeal but think Hyperbole and a Half should have never gotten a book deal. I could not even get past the first few pages!

While I dislike the Oatmeal and love HaaH. Definitely agree they are not the same style of humor at all.

*expands thread* *expects reactions to touching doggie comic* Huh, guess I don't know FS that well after all. o__o

But as someone who didn't know that strip before and recently had a pet die, thank you! I might be crying rn, but it's a beautiful strip.
