It's just the fact that OVA Lloyd is a giant bundle of emo, and I want my gentle idealist back ;_;

Are we talking about the same guy here? Because the Lloyd I remember was all about dismembering and killing anyone who might have had anything to do with his late mother's demise...

I don't think I'd go that far, but he was far more rash and made dumb choices during the first half of the game.

You've got to remember that by this point in the game (before they reach Tethe'alla), Lloyd hasn't undergone his character's growth yet. He still doesn't know enough about the worlds, Cruxis, the treatment of half-elves, and the Chosens' suffering to become the gentle idealist we all know and love.

Still, he wasn't nearly that emo in the game. Not to mention that he wasn't clinging to Colette quite that much :/

I remember there being quite a few skits in which Lloyd was all "o god MOM ;_;" or "I wanna protect Colette ;_;", so, uh, yeah I don't think it's very different from the game at all but maybe it depends on the route you take and I'll shut up now.
