36. The one thing I don't get is that most heroes, after getting thrust in a world (or worlds) of adventure, will fight with every last shred of their being to get back to their mundane life.

I dunno. This is coming from someone who still doesn't know why Marche from FFTA forced all of his friends to go back to the real world even though they were all happier in Ivalice (for fuck's sake, his brother was stuck in a wheelchair in the real world!)

50. Same here. A lot of my favorite characters tend to be religious while I could care less about organized religion as a whole. Hell, the first character I RPed on LJ was Claudia Wolf, a religious extremist who puts Jehovah's Witnesses to shame.

One of the reasons I love The Twelve Kingdoms so much is that the main character does desperately want to go back to her mundane life for most of the first story arc. Eventually she changes her mind, yes, but only out of a sense of duty and veeeeeeeeeeeery reluctantly.

I have no idea what secret 36 said, since it's been removed for bandwith sucking, so, probably 110% unrelated.

I'm not religious at all, but I find extremely religious characters interesting too. It's not the religion that does it (doesn't really matter wtf they believe in to me) but more the fanatical obsession/devotion to a cause/drive to adhere and make others adhere to some ideal, because that's kinda something I don't have/have never had.
