Exactly. While any addiction can be a problem, socially, some of them can actually kill you (drugs can).

Are you dumb? Drugs can kill you, it's a fact. That one time you try heroin or cocaine, you can die. Come hang out in my ER for a few days and you'll see how drugs can 'not kill you.'

... that's already implied when someone says something "can kill you". You don't need to say that there's also the possibility it won't, unless, of course you're some sort of weird substance abuse apologist.

Okay, except that:

1) Asserting that drug addiction is not healthy for you and have the potential to kill you is not "insane straight-edge", it's fact.

2) Understanding that saying "drug addiction can kill you" is merely acknowledging the possibility it can do so, it's not claiming there are no other outcomes. Grasping that has nothing to do with one's attitudes about drugs, it's more to do with having decent reading comprehension.

Yes, this is a good example. The thing that I am complaining about is not actually that someone said that drugs can kill you. It is that this comm generally assigns a risk to drug use comparable to the risk of running onto a freeway.

Everyone on F!S knows that some drugs can kill you if used in excess. Every single person.

Yet we're comparing it to internet addiction. It's worth pointing out the major differences - yes, even when they're widely known.
