I was just starting to wonder about this, since this is not the first pic of her I've seen with the star-tear thing. (The first looked like a promotional portrait, so I dismissed it as stage makeup.)

Finally a secret that isn't shitting on her or their relationship. I actually know nothing about her (other than what I've learnt from vague comments on f!s), but even I am starting to get creeped out by how vehemently people seem to dislike her and their supposedly excessive publicity.

I don't have an opinion either way and frankly am kind of tired of hearing about them (don't get me wrong, I don't want people to stop making secrets about them or anything), but I admit to finding this secret amusing after all the 'these two people are the worst, their relationship makes me want to puke", stuff.

I've read Amanda Palmer's book (the Art of Asking) where she writes extensively about her relationship with Neil and I have to say...I don't ship them AT ALL. When she meets him, she thinks he's awkward and weird. When he asks to date her...she's all like "???? but he's awkward and British and doesn't drink even." Before they get married, she's all like "BUT?!! If we marry can I still be free? Can I still party? Can I still have sex with other people?" And Neil says yes to all those questions, bless his soul (nothing wrong with all those things, just why are you then getting married to an awkward British dude for that?!) Amanda even mentions once that their sex was awkward at first.

I also been to their collaborative concert and there was no chemistry between them. ZERO. They did work together well on stage so idk maybe just feed each other creatively or something.

And then they did get married and they say they love each other and Amanda is expecting a baby now and I'm def happy for her, I just genuinely don't get it and don't ship it.

I think Neil has said that he has a ridiculously low tolerance and that if he drinks he falls asleep. So he just doesn't drink that often, not that he doesn't drink as a stance or decision.

well, I don't know a whole lot about their relationship, but people don't have to have "chemistry" or be obviously compatable to have a happy and healthy relationship. Amanda Palmer in particular has never seemed like the type of person to want a so-called average marriage.

Maybe they love each other because they're best friends, or maybe she likes being married to him because he treats her with respect and he likes it because she makes his life more vibrant and interesting. Maybe what they're both looking for in their marriage isn't the norm, but it works for them?

I just kind of feel like people (both Gaiman and Palmer's critics, and people in general) are really caught up in whether other people's relationships have "chemistry" or whether or not they should work well together. But frankly, you and everyone else besides these two, have no idea what they want from their relationship. Maybe Gaiman is way into cuckolding or something, and Amanda is happy to oblige, or maybe he's ace and she's not, or maybe they both married because they want the tax benefits. Point is, who the fuck cares?

OC here, I don't really care and I did mention that I'm happy for her as long as she's happy BUT the secret was about shipping and all...and if you consider their love affair as a fictional love story which is what it reads like in The Art of Asking, then there is just very little to ship considering how often Amanda calls Neil awkward.

I've always kind of felt like their relationship was sort of one sided and he felt more strongly about it than she did and this confirms it. It's a good business deal for her, though.

To be honest it was wayyy too much information for me but I do follow Gaiman's Tumblr and he once posted about why they have an open marriage and how it was a mutual preference.
