It bugs me in general too, but this one is particularly upsetting sometimes because I don't quite fit into either of these groups and no matter which side I look at I've got people saying things about me that aren't true.

That entire system is fucked up, and I really hate that everyone is hated for not being the "least oppressed minority"

Yes. It's the whole "punching up" thing that started in comedy, where you look like an asshole if you're mocking people less powerful than you so you should stick to mocking yourself or people more powerful. People have taken that and decided you can say whatever you want about anyone who can be argued to be more powerful than you, so they spend all their time proving that they're at the bottom so they're "allowed" to say whatever they want about anyone.

The worst part is when have the nerve to co-opt issues and make it all about them, e.g. "Homophobia is being scared that men will treat you the way you treat women" bullshit.
