Inspired by the Totally Spies secret.

What things did you read/watch/play as a kid, and then go back to as an adult and find perverted stuff (or dirty jokes, or anything)?

Or have you seen something lately and wondered "how did that get through?" Or at least wondered if someone was being dirty on purpose?

One example of the latter: my county has all these PSAs about pedestrian safety posted around. Mostly on buses and bus shelters.

For a while they had one that showed a giant high heel crossing a tiny street with a tiny car crashing into it. Looked very fetishy - a giant woman in heels walking around in a tiny world.

(those ads have since been replaces by ones with pictures of people with tire tracks over their faces.)

Rocko's Modern Life. As a kid, my Mom hated that I watched Ren & Stimpy (which is a whole other can of worms), but she was completely fine with Rocko.

Now I'm an adult and there have been several videos/lists showing just how sly the show was, from 'on your hands and knees doggy style' bowls to Rocko working for a phone sex company.

Ha ha, my mom was exactly like your mom. Good thing too, because I loved Rocko and must have seen every episode at least 5 times.

Plus chokey chicken, the rainbow joke, one of the babies looking like Heffer, etc.

I'm sure Penelope Pitstop spent a lot of time getting tied up, but I haven't watched it since I was a kid.

Penelope Pitstop was just one long parade of sex jokes, when you go back and watch it as an adult it is filthy.

There were a bunch of jokes about Dick Grayson's first name in Futures End that just made me wonder how the fuck DC ever permitted it.

Of course it's really obvious Keith Giffen wrote those scenes...

There's a lot of underage-y stuff in Animorphs like older dudes hitting on or stalking Rachel (who is 13-14 for most of the series), and people saying maybe she'll date these older men as a reward for something. It's a little fucked, but the series is pretty dark. I was surprised at the underage dating refs though.

I read those as a kid, somehow the only one I remember is the older guys in the second book hitting on her from their car (and her turning into an elephant to scare them).

Yeah. That's in the second book! So she's like 13, and this college aged dude starts cat-calling her and stalking her down the street so she turns into an elephant to run him off.

I didn't find it too weird since the guy was clearly in the wrong and she scared him off in a pretty badass (if reckless) way. I think it was meant to show the beginnings of her personality later in the series.

I also had creeps bother me when I was that age, but mostly older than college age. Blech. One lovely guy kept hitting on me, trying to kiss me and get me alone with him at a party when I was maybe 14 or 15, and later I heard my mom telling my dad about how he'd tried to make out with her (mind you, my dad was present at the party). Creepy dude was definitely older than both of us.

Oh, and he was married himself. I looked at his website a while ago and saw that he is divorced now. What a shock!

Yeah, I had creepy guys hit on me too when I was that age. (One random guy asked my grandma If I would marry him. I was like 11!) I guess it just seemed weird to me in a book that seems written for 8-10 year olds. I mean, the books are dark as hell but the writing style is aimed very young.

Gravity Falls gets a ridiculous amount of stuff past the radar and I find myself wondering how this is a Disney channel show.

Fairly OddParents. If half or most of the things that are played for laughed were played seriously it would probably be one of the most fucked up cartoons. It already is if you think about it too hard.

All the bondage and BDSM-type stuff in Golden Age Wonder Woman.

God, I love that period. Marston was a classic polyamorous pervert, as everyone knows, and he was just SO unapologetic about cramming in fetishes that literally nobody back then had heard of.

Danny Phaaaaaantom. Dear lord, Danny Phantom.

In like the first three episodes we have bondage, lots of characters getting beaten up, and mindfuckery with bonus hella consent issues (Danny finds out he can possess people, promptly acts like a teenager; later, he wants someone to ask Sam to a dance (but not himself) and gives Tucker a meaningful look.

Tucker: No way, man.

[jump cut to] Tucker: Hey, Sam, wanna go to the dance?

Me: wtf

Animaniacs. Like...seriously, almost every episode had *something* that slipped past.

I think a lot of the things in Adventure Time are fucking creepy and unsettling if you think about them just a bit. I'm not one of the people who go "OMG SO DARK AND EDGY" - I haven't even watched many episodes. But some things definitely made me go O_o
