I know what you mean, but I still feel it's a little harmful that our media (don't know about yours) is so vastly *dominated* by US media that I've more than once had discussions with people who were convinced, for instance, that certain aspects of american law must be the same, here. and the list goes on - certain harmful beuty standards - US-imported. Less breastfeeding while more sexualization of boobs or nudity in general - US-imported...
I wouldn't call that brainwashing, and I love a lot of US media, but I do find myself angry when I see people just blindly accepting everything from the US without the scrutiny they'd apply to media from any other country.

For what it's worth that feeling isn't uncommon within the US either, though the specifics of what upset us are different on certain points.

For example, the media keeps using my state as "Place everyone owns a gun" and "Crazy murderer land". Which has resulted in a lot of people who move here deciding it's okay to carry a gun illegally because "Everyone does it!"
