How it seems like every crime tv show ever has to have all the criminals be mentally ill, because that's really really not the case.

It just flies in the face of all the data showing the mentally ill being far more likely to be victims of violence, and adds to the stigma. Which...admittedly I'm biased about since I've had to deal with some of the nastier aspects of that.

Ugh, same. People LOVE the multi serial killer trope, even though surprise! A couple serials have tried to FAKE multi (Kenneth Bianchi, most notably) but they all got found out. Though we do have Billy Milligan, serial rapist, among our ranks, that's ONE serial rapist, not the loads of axe murderers fiction seems to adore.

For years, the most common question we got on disclosing was, "Are you dangerous?" to the point we made a snarky comics page about it so we could just hand it over instead of explaining over and over.
